  • Our Mission

UW’s International Ministry encourages and inspires international Christian leaders by partnering with U.S. Churches to provide Sports Outreach Training for the effective communication of the gospel worldwide.

  • Our Vision

UW’s International Ministry envisions 20,000 international Christian leaders trained and using sports as an evangelistic tool to reach 1 million kids for Christ by September of 2013.

The vision of UW's International Ministry is to train international Christian leaders in outreach summer sports camps by providing the VBS sports ideas, resources and training in a seminar format. This method allows us to equip leaders with the ability to do a sports ministry of their own instead of relying on outside mission teams. We feel this is the direction that God would have us go in our overseas sports outreach ministry.

Our desire is to partner with U.S. churches that are interested in international Christian sports outreach. There are countless established missionaries and ministries around the world that the local church is supporting.  Our hope is to enhance the relationship and ministry between the church and a particular country by taking Sports Outreach Trainings to places in which they are already invested.

Each summer sports camp trip will include one of the International Church Trainers from the UW staff and an alumnus from the summer staff. You will be part of a six member training team that will coordinate two consecutive three-day trainings. Each sports training will consist of a half day seminar and 3 hour outreach camp. Translators and materials in the local language will be used alongside  your English version of the curriculum. Each team member’s role will include:

  • training leaders
  • coaching sports
  • teaching bible lessons and sports stories
  • leading songs
  • performing illusions

The links for each individual country that we visited this year can be found on the sidebar. We are aiming for three different levels of sports training in each country. Level one is reaching leaders from 4 to 6 cities in a one large training seminar. Level two is returning to that same country and doing trainings in each of those areas, bringing in leaders from 15 to 18 cities. Finally, level three is reaching out with training meetings to many of these 18 cities/areas, with the end goal of training five hundred Christian Leaders in sports outreach using UW materials. The three levels of training serve multiple purposes: it allows us to reach different regions of the country, provides for continuing relationships with leaders, and is a natural way to establish accountability for those who have received sports camp training to ensure they are practicing what they have learned.
