Director of National Centers of Influence and Training – VTAC office
Since growing up on NYC’s Lower East Side, I knew early what I wanted to do with my life, “I want to teach and coach.” In 1978 when I gave my life to Christ, God gave me more than I could have hoped for or imagine: the chance to use my passion, skills and gifts to serve Him through sports and athletics. My wife Patty and I have been blessed to be part of First Bible Baptist Church where we were nurtured in God’s Word, and taught the principles of living by faith. It was always my desire and prayer as the Director of Grace and Truth Athletics at First Bible, to see our sports ministry used in other churches across America and around the world to reach their communities for Christ. I am honored now to represent UW as Director of their National Centers of Influence and Training, equipping and mentoring the next generation of sports ministry leaders through regional centers across the USA for the furtherance of His Kingdom.
One-on-One with Mark
Why did you decide to join full-time staff?
To continue serving God through sports ministry, by fulfilling my passion to mentor others to do the same: to reach kids and adults with the glorious gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Uncharted Waters has the mechanism to impact America and the world with the Gospel through the venue and platform of Sport.
What is a favorite ministry moment?
When I see those I’ve shared my passion with and poured my life into, doing the same, serving God as pastors, teachers, missionaries, and in their walk with the Lord, utilizing their gifts and talents to serve others.
What is the one area of the world that you would most like to visit?
I have had the privilege to travel. I have been to Africa, Central America, arctic Alaska, Middle East, eastern and western Europe, and across America. I would love to visit Italy, where my grandmother was born.
What is your favorite sports team?
The New York Yankees, I was a Yankee fan before I was born!
What do you do for fun?
Climb mountains, more like hiking these days, kayaking, swimming in the ocean…with Patty; spending time with my children and grandchildren and with friends.
